Flambeau Masters Doe Deer Decoy

I Love This Decoy !
This decoy has really exceeded my expectations. I had never used a deer decoy before while bowhunting so I thought I'd give it a try and see what happens. I've listed what I consider some of the pros and cons for the decoy.

Pros
+ Deer focus their attention on the decoy now instead of on me in the blind.
+ I bowhunt North Dakota in December so wanted a decoy that could stand on its own with no stake to try and drive into the frozen ground - this one is very stable on its four legs.
+ Seems to have a calming effect on the deer. Instead of stomping and snorting as the come by now they just walk right on through.
+ The decoy has small pegs on the hind legs for putting scent pads - I put some 'doe-in-heat' on one and had a 3X3 buck fall in love with her and wouldn't leave her side for over 2 hours.
+ Durable - I had a jealous doe go over to her and rear up on her hind legs and kick the tar out of her then stomp her for good measure. She knocked 3...
Like it
I didn't buy the decoy for hunting, but for an art project. But it certainly fooled my dogs. They saw us assemble it, and still, when we put it on its feet, they came to sniff it and started to bark at it frantically. It looks much better than the ridiculous inflatable ones or the flat photographic one.

-- By the way, you are very unlikely to fool a deer with a photo. Most animals do not visually understand a flattened 3D space. Try showing a photo of a dog to your dog. Only about 10% of them will even notice that they see a dog. None of them can recognize themselves. You'd be better off with a mirror or a tv, then most see the animal. You might make a curious deer come to smell that big unusual thing--

It is practical to be able to put the decoy apart and store the pieces in the belly. Very light. Easy to assemble too. You'll wonder a little the first time (just read the instruction punk, it's 1 page), then you'll be able to do it in about 2 minutes. The longest...

Canon 18x50 Image Stabilization All-Weather Binoculars w/Case, Neck Strap & Batteries

Stellar Performance
These binoculars are spectacular. Point them at Jupiter and you see a bright dot wandering around in the field of view. Press the image stabilization switch and the planet and its moons instantly become visible. While they can't subtract all movement they do get rid of the little shakes that make hand held viewing so difficult. 15x is enough magnification that Saturn is obviously not round.

A complaint about earier versions of the Canon IS line was that your finger went to sleep holding the IS switch down. Now you can press it briefly to turn on the IS circuitry which will automatically shut off in 5 minutes. If you press and hold the switch it shuts off as soon as you release it.

I haven't had my pair long enough to comment on battery life but do see a problem changing them when they are mounted on a tripod. Unlike most binoculars where the tripod mounting is at the objective end where the two barrels rotate on the Canons it is at the bottom of the binocular near the...
Great but has some design flaws costing another $350 in repair
Right out of the box, these binoculars, no doubt are one of the best pair of optics I have ever purchased. The Image Stabilization feature is what makes the bincoluars so attractive...and expensive.

They work great on the water or in situations that will reduce hand shakieness.

I own a pair of 10x30 Canon and wanted to upgrade having liked them.

With the 18x50 I got what I expected with the 10x30 model, but the weight of these bincolars is a bit of a draw back. At least they have a tripod hole for support if you need it.

The weight also creates another draw back.

**** Be aware, there appears to be a design flaw with the top eye peice portion. Due to the heavy weight of these 18 x 50 binoculars, one must be careful how you handle them.

I've had these binocs (Canon 15x50 IS) for two weeks now and am regretting my purchase . . . . regretting that I didn't buy them years ago, that is!

So far I have put them to work for aircraft spotting, watching hawks soar high overhead, looking at the moon, and general observation of distant terrain. These are by far the best optical instrument I've ever had the pleasure to use. The Image Stabilizer feature is truly outstanding. It allows you to really reach in on astounding views, and enjoy them with rock solid stability.

For example, to focus in on a Boeing 747 that is still 5 miles out on final appoach, and clearly watch it extend its landing gear in all its glory of doors opening, wheels articulating, and doors closing . . . then enjoy watching it float through the air until WHOOOOOOSH it's upon you, is awe-inspiring! And fun!

Another pleasant surprise. The binocs came with two years of extended warranty from Canon free -- three years in total...

Ive had Muck boot products in the past they perform well and last in an effort to try and save a dollar i tryed a boot similar from bass pro shops i had them for months before wearing them outside they leaked the first time in the field i contacted them and they refused to take them back then i read customer reviews many had the same experience this dummy should have read them first this boot fits like a glove and is very comfortable these are true to fit in sizing and as waterproof then a frogs butt this is certainly a would buy again and recommend to any outdoors man dont be a dummy happy hunting

Bushnell 205110 Elite 1600 ARC 7 x 26mm Laser Rangefinder

Great Product, Needs Brighter Display
This range finder is one of the best I've used, other than military grade ones. I've done some capability testing with it during the day and night to see how well it actually performs. Here are a few stats:

Day Time Range on Trees: 1532m
Day Time Range on Houses: 1678m
Night Time Range on Trees: 1441m
Night Time Range on Houses: 1580m.

I took this up to Yosemite National Park also and was able to range rough rock faces out to around 1200-1300m. Now, all this sounds awesome right? Well, it is, the only real problem I encounter with this range finder is the lack of brightness in the display. With the brightness turned all the way up(Power 4 I believe) in bright day conditions, it is nearly impossible to read what range you are lazing. The way around that, that I found, is to laze your tgt. then quickly place your hand over the objective lens of the range finder to make it darker inside the range finder so you can actually read the display...
spot on distance. No windage. Out to 1500 meters. Works
The quick summary is in the header. Here's the details.

You will see on the downrange end of he unit 3 holes. On the LEFT is the optics 7 power x 26mm objective lens. Yea, they could be better, but this a RANGEFINDER and not a SPOTTING SCOPE, so I'm letting the 7 power slide. I can accurately find 1500 meters with it.

I have some photos of the display and will try to upload them once I resize them (used a 26 mp dslr camera and the files are huge)

In the middle is the laser receiver. You must ask now, where is the laser transmitter as this is a clsss blah blah laser device using invisible laser beams. Well I have a class blah blah invisable laser beam finder. It turns out that the laser is transmitted out the SAME lens (the 7x26) that you look through, only not into your eye - downrange. HOW? With a prism - just an extra prism to pass IR laser power downrange at the crosshairs lit up on the display. The pulse goes at the speed of light...
Best LRF for the price
Ok,

This is the Bushnell Elite 1600 ARC MONOCULAR range finder, not the FUSION binocs. I say this, because many people confuse the two.

This range finder works perfectly to 1600 yards without issue. I have not been able to get it to range past 1600 yards, so I wonder if it's software limited.

The primary difference between this unit and it's closest top-of-the-line competitor, the Leica 1600 Rangemester CRF is that this unit actually works and is 1/2 the price.

The glass on the Bushnell is not as nice and the Leica or the Swavorski LRF units.

However, Leica has a large number of 1600 units that don't actually work (range) properly, and the Swavorski, which better at ranging 2000 yard distances, does not have ANY of the fetured of this unit.

So, unless you NEED superior glass, as opposed to good glass, and you want to spend time and money looking for a working Leica unit, then this is the unit for you.

Sitka Men's 90% Pant (Optifade Forest, Large)

Great Gear!
I wear a 40 x 32 in pant size and I ordered a 2X size in these pants. I had to return them for a 3x due to the cut. When buying these order them bigger.
I love the quality of the material and the zippers.
Great mid-late season pant
The 90% pant is a great pant for when the weather conditions change and you are pursuing animals in cold and snowy conditions. As a GORE product tester the 90% pant is my go to pant for my late season rifle hunts. The fabric is a quiet material that will repel light moisture and is also very durable. If the weather gets really cold I recommend combining these pants with the Merino base layers or kelvin pants for additional warmth. One other comment; my 90% pants have seen a lot of use over the past two years and I have not seen any issues with the material fading either from wear or washing.

Construction

Aluminum case, switch and belt clip. The case/body has a matte black finish and is anti reflective. The blade is a double edged Stilletto made of D2 steel. D2 is harder than 154 CM but can be prone to pitting or rust spots in humid climates, such as Southeastern states. There is a narrow waist along the sides which allow for virtually any type of grip, such as forehand, backhand or ice pick grips.

I have dropped this knife on numerous occasions and it holds up to light, non-abusive, accidental drops. Aluminum is quite resilient.

The internals have very light blade springs. It's best to keep the internals to Benchmade and their workshop. They cover the knife through their LifeSharp warrantee service. For now, it's only $5 for the return shipping. It's easier to just go on the company website, complete the work order and send it...

Rocky Men's Aztec Work Boot,Brown,12 M US

Awsome Work Boot
I have used several brands and models of work boots while farming in Costa Rica. I am very tough on workboots, and usually wear out one pair per year. I have used these boots for 2 years now and they are still going strong. They are waterproof, not too heavy, not to hot (especially in a tropical environment)and offer my feet great protection. I'm buying some more just because I cut the heel of one boot on a sharp disk blade and want a backup pair on standby. That blade could have easily sliced my foot in a cheap pair of boots. Awsome Job Rocky!

Clarion CMD8 1.8-Inch Marine CD-USB-MP3 Receiver

I installed the CMD8 on a 36 foot sedan cruiser. I put the unit downstairs in the saloon, and mounted the MW1 wired remote up on the fly bridge. The installation allows me to use one stereo, with iPod located out of the weather, but control volume, tracks, etc. from either location. The iPod control is one of the best I've seen. You can even select to control it directly, instead of using the radio.

I initially complained about two problems.

1) The Owners/Installation manual is fair to poor.

2) Tech support is non-existent. When I had a problem, which turned out to be a defective iPod synch cable, I looked in the manual, expecting to see a toll free number for help. Not there. Then I looked online. Not there either.

So, my revised opinion is it's a good looking and working unit, with poor customer support. I raised my review from 2 to 3 stars.

Zero Tolerance Tactical Response Knife

Zero Tolerance 0200 ....balanced and as tough as they come
After much reading over specs and looking at knife reviews on line, I decided to buy a Zero Tolerance 0200 for my heavy duty folder/edc/survival slot in my knife collection. If your looking for a survival folder you can count your life on,..the ZT 0200 is your knife. The knife came sharp but not wicked sharp as I prefer so a couple of strokes on the ceramic rods and the 154cm blade was good to go. One word jumps to mind handling this knife "massive". Its G10 handle is milled with a alligator-scale-like texture. It grips into the hand comfortably and securely. With a glove or bare hands, the knife ergonomics are about as perfect as it gets. Its obvious, this knife can handle hard chores that require pounding, batoning, and prying. The SS liner has been heavily drilled out. The liner lock uses the thickest steel I have ever seen in a liner lock. ZT says they have never had one fail yet and I tend to believe them. Its massive. The 0200 is NOT a assisted opening knife like the 0300 line...
My first choice of combat utility knife
My first choice of combat utility knife.

* Blade: Hard and thick blade that can withstand the extreme combat environment.
* Handle: Ergonomically designed with scales for good friction. Although the knife is very big, it fits perfectly in my small hand.
* Sharpness: Despite the thickness, you can shave with it. Only issue is that sharpening the curved up part of the blade. Fixed angle knife sharpener can't easily reach the edge.
* Belt clip: Not pretty but functional and can be re-positioned for left handed person and for tip up/tip down carry.
*Lock: Very very solid with absolutely no blade play.
* Opening: After a little practice, it can easily be opened with a flicker of your thumb. Or if you prefer, you can use its index finger flipper to open it very easily.
*Pivot screw: This is the biggest drawback. You need a small crescent wrench to adjust the tightness.
* Customer Service: Yes, you can rely on Kershaw for repair and sharpness...
A solid contender from Zero Tolerance, with a few kinks...
So, let's cut to the chase -- the ZT0200 from Zero Tolerance is a BEAST.

Considering the relatively low price tag compared to the rest of the ZT line-up, and the renowned quality that you get with ZT knives, I would say that the ZT0200 is one of the best-valued knives you're going to find on the market today. There's just so much to like about it. I'll do a pros/cons rundown below (this review will be a bit lengthy, but I like to be thorough when it comes to product reviews).

PROS[+]:

[+] It has a FLIPPER! Definitely my favorite way of opening knives, since it uses the least amount of motion and repositioning to open a knife from tip-down pocket carry. Swift Hitch SH01 Portable Wireless Camera System

Marriage Saver
No more fighting with your spouse when you hitch up the trailer. I think my wife actually gets some perverse satisfaction out of our hitching sessions. That makes one of us. So when she steps back into the house to grab a jacket (or whatever that "one more thing" is that keeps us from leaving), I quickly snap the magnetic camera onto the tailgate and hitch up the trailer before she makes it back outside.

Yes, it's that fast.

The image quality is great. The display is very clear. You can even reverse the picture to correct for the "my left or the camera's left?" challenge. My only complaint is that there is a little static as you get farther away from the camera (or if the charge is low).

I bought this camera for a specific reason (not to avoid the hitching wars with my wife, because that's actually kind of fun--kind of). The spaces in my RV storage yard are very close together and I have a very bad blind spot on the curb-side of the trailer...
Great But Not Perfect
I too agree with the other positive reviews on this item, however, there is room for improvement. I needed it to hitch up my RV trailer and for backing up my trailer on the blind sides.

The magnetic camera would not stick to my trailer's aluminum and fiber glass walls. I researched this unit on the net before buying it from another vendor on ebay. The reason being that my unit, same as the one here, came with a complimentary custom storage bag for the unit & all it's accessories, & a suction cup adaptor for the camera which sticks to any part of my trailer. The suction cup adaptor solved any location placement issues I had with the camera & worked great for my trailer.

The other issue is the charging of the camera & monitor. The unit only came with a 12 volt charger for your vehicle, no ac charger, & the unit requires to be fully charged before first use. It is not practical to drive around for hours charging your unit in your vehicle until it is charged. I...
backup camera
This is a great little unit. Color screen is clear and easy to see. And the instant night vision lets you see clearly at night. I like the magnetic base to mount the camera; you can place it about anywhere. The range surprised me; I have used the screen over 300 feet from the camera.
This thing has more uses then just backup. I use it to monitor my horses in the trailer while driving down the road. And I have used it to keep an eye on cargo in the back of my truck. A++ worth the money.

Sangean ATS-909X BK AM/FM/LW/SW World Band Receiver - Black

A Surprisingly Excellent Portable
I recently purchased the new 909X model, and did some technical tests on the 909x versus my Tecsun Pl-390 and Grundig 750. First, as to FM reception, the 909X has outstanding FM reception, as to both the number of stations received and the tonal quality. I was able to easily log 18 RDS stations from my central Florida location in daytime. As to tonal quality, this is where the 909X is a great portable. The built-in amplifier and the high-quality speaker, give the FM listener a range of tonal quality approaching my Tivoli Audio SongBook radio. This excellent tonal quality carries over to AM reception also. My next test was on the shortwave bands. I was surprised as to the radio's sensitivity and, again, good tonal quality on SW voice and music programs. Although my Grundig 750 and Tecsun PL-390 are very sensitive shortwave radios, the big plus in the 909X is it's very high signal-to-noise ratio. What that means is that weak signals received on the Grundig 750 and Tecsun Pl-390 come in...
Sensational Upgrade in ATS-909X
I bought this direct from Taipei because of detailed and impressive advance notice, though the price here is now far better. Okay, that information was PR, but in the case of this complete re-design of the ATS-909 it was pretty close to how the product performs.

I've used a variety of portables over the years, including the brilliant, but rather heavy, Sony ICF-2010, and its successor, the fine 7600GR. I've also tried a few of the new Chinese shortwave competitors, including the Degen 1103, probably the best cheap shortwave radio ever made.

Sangean, however, is not competing against Degen or Kaito. Established for a very long time as a maker of superb portables, they took some heat for the ATS-909. I can't comment on that model, as I have never tried one. The ATS-909X, however, is to my mind the successor to Sony's 7600GR as the best portable for its broad range of reception, which includes FM, LW, MW, and SW. The AM range is 150-29999. Sangean 909X Quite a nice performing portable
I have read all the reviews of the New 909X,and I have to say some are quite misleading. I don't know if the nay sayers have under performing radios,I was told recently by a very high ranking person associated with a major radio company
that after a new model is relaesed that the mfr will quietly make engineering evaluations and upgrades based on the first field reports, and never make public the changes, so I will assume that the early reports were based on the Beta radios.
My first impression of the 909X out of the box was that the build quality was very good, with a nice feel in my hands. The first order of business was to read the English portion of the operation manual, then after installing 4 AA alkaline cells and setting the battery charge switch to the correct setting it was time to power up and "walk through" the functions. After I verified the 909X was 100% it was time to put it through it's paces.

Nikon ProStaff 3-9 x 40 Black Matte Riflescope (Nikoplex)

LOVE this scope -Great value and performance
I've got this scope mounted on a Ruger American Rifle and I absolutely -love- the combination, particularly when looking at it from a value conscious perspective. This scope is bright, it's clear, it has superb adjustments and it appears to be rock solid. I am not a huge fan of all these new newfangled bells and whistle range-finding-bullet-drop-this-that-and-the-other scopes, so the "old school" Nikoplex "crosshairs" on this scope are right down this old fellers alley. Seriously, if you put this scope on one of the new bolt action "value" rifles (Savage, Ruger, etc) you will have one heckuva tack driving package for WAY less than what you used to have to spend for good glass and an accurate rifle.
GREAT SCOPE
You can't beat Nikon's quality. For the price this is one of the best scopes out there. It is on a Mossberg predator 5.56 and hold zero, with 3/4" groups.
Makes the most of my rifle
About a year ago I bought the scope for my .22 Ithaca Model 72 rifle. The adjustable power magnification allows great range versatility on your small game (or paper) target out to 100 yards. The glass is as clear and bright as when new. The reticle is a very fine hair line so it won't obstruct your target. I really appreciate the turrets which have 1/4 MOA clicks and a zero-reset.

Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri Kraton Handle

Not all Kukris are created equal
First, I just have to say wow!!! I own a couple of other, cheaper Kukris and this one outshines them in every way.

Bottom line up front:
This is a good blade by any measure. Whether you want a Kukri you can be proud to show off to your buddies or you actually need a blade you can trust your life to, this is a good choice.

Pros:
1. The design is excellent. Cold Steel didn't reproduce the traditional Kukri, they improved the design considerably. In my opinion, it's far superior for thrusting than traditional designs and still retains the wicked cutting power that made the kukri famous. The handle is much better. It fits the hand well and is a joy to use. It has a lanyard hole (Which you should use). This is a first class cut and thrust weapon that can also do camp chores.

2. The steel choice and temper are both excellent. That's really all you probably need to know about the steel itself. If so, you should skip the details below, but...
simply the best woods blade out there
this blade replaces the need to bring an axe, machete, or bowie knife. It does all the jobs in the woods. I highly reccommend it. I've put it through a ringer and it does not chip. However high carbon steel of this blade rust easy so take care to pour motor oil in the sheath so that it stays oiled. It is the right steel for the job however i wish cold steel would bring back the teflon coating of the original.

I do not recommend the san mi 3 version of this blade as my experiance with stainless is that it is too rigid and does not flex and this leads to chipping and an early "death" of the sword/blade.
Solid Performer
Purchased my original kukri from Cold Steel 4 months ago. After watching nutnfancy's review last month and outstanding field results with my original I have added a second Kukri to my outfit. This now goes with us on all of our excursions that fits the POU. My philosophy of use for this blade is an overall survival knife. The kukri has held up to all hype although the price is a little steep. I have used this blade for chopping and splitting which used to be performed by our trusty camp axe. This knife cuts with purpose and ease. Do to its weight forward design, its in a class of its own in the chopping department.
Did I mention tough? This blade is rock solid and I mean solid. Cold Steel did not skimp on this blade which is expected given the cost. If I were to have rated this 3 months ago it would have received 4 stars for difficulty in sharpening. Since then I have acquired a Lansky Sharpening Puck and needless to say with a some time spent around the campfire-problem...

Spyderco Manix2 G-10 Plain Edge Knife, X-large Knife, Black

Tactical or EDC blade
LIke i've mentioned before in my endura 4 and tenacious review spyderco makes great blades and this blade is no exception...

I dont usually rate things 5 stars but for this blade i will make an exception...seeing as this is the first review on amazon and most people buying this knife are serious knife nuts like myself enjoy learning more and more about the blades we buy before making the purchase...and since this is a rather expensive blade(anything over the 100 dollar mark is an expensive blade to me your mileage may very) i will try to give an honest in depth review on this knife.

1. Uses. honestly i think this particular blade is probably best suited as an emergency tactical blade because i find it to be a little large for every day carry. Its a serious blade for pocket carry with a blade that is near the 4 inch mark( 3.88 ) and a Hefty weight of 6.2 oz its a big knife. It has an overall length of 8.93 inches open and is 5.08 inches closed. serious blade...
Spyderco Manix 2 XL won't disappoint
This knife is fantastic! I waited a few weeks to review it so that I could give some honest feedback.

First, the handle. The handle is extremely comfortable, ergonomic and well balanced. It just "fits" into your hand when you're using the knife. This helps with hand fatigue which, can lead to slippage which can lead to cuts. Cuts should only be on the intended material/media. Not your hand. The scales on this knife are nicely textured. They appear smooth at a glance but hold up very well to sweaty, wet, or oily hands. Internally, there are skeletonized liners inside the handle. Perfect in every way. Besides tactical
At first glance, I fell in love, at first hold it took the reign of my large edc. I carry 4 knives in 4 sizes, large heavy use edc,large tactical, general edc, and fruit peeler slicer. I weight it in at 5.1 ounces, it's liners are skeletonized and the gimping is awesome, and blings in the right light. Not a tactial knife, but grip will argue that but knowledge will dispute it as it cant stab like a Spyderco Military. But is a much heavyier use knife. Liners, locking mechanism and blade steel lend itself to power cutting. Make no mistake about, if your state allows anything under 4" blades buy this baby and you'll see what quality production knives should be.

Dont be put off by the fools who say this knife is not easily opened, the lock acts like the Benchmade Axis and DOES release just as easy with one hand. I own many Axis locks and none, are better, the same yes better no.

Buck Hood Hoodlum Hunting Knife

This knife is awesome weight and super sharp, i have been batoning through lots of wood with this and it works very well, still sharp enough to shave hair. Its a little light to chop with but works well in all other aspects, the sheath is well made but i prefer a kydex usually so could use a upgrade but the nylon is high grade and it does have a plastic insert
Excellent large woods blade
For those who want a brief summary, I will say that this is an excellent knife, both in design and in quality. It clearly is toward the larger end of the spectrum, but I feel that the capabilities are worth the bulk and weight. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent all around woods knife. I have had mine for a couple months now, and have taken it on several outings. I've tried to test it in a variety of roles, and so far I've been very pleased. It batons wood very well, and the long blade gives you the ability to span a calf to thigh width log while still having enough point on the other side to split without using wooden wedges or some of the other techniques that are needed with smaller blades. I did not find that there was any undue shock transmitted to my hand, but the "SMS" notwithstanding, I did experience shock to my hand with certain woods. In the short story i went out back and was processing thigh to calve sized logs that were about 16-20 inches long... i had split a good pile but I had not been outside more than an hour on the first day of getting it... and the tip broke off right where the notch was/is...

i loved the weight and feel of the knife, well balanced, 14 oz for the knife and something like 23 oz with the way over built sheath, but it is a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the other crummy sheaths you get with blades now a days...

Yaesu FT-2900R 75 Watt 2 Meter VHF Mobile Transceiver Amateur Ham Radio

I should preface by saying I am not an amateur radio operator myself, this was a gift for my wife who is and plans on using this radio for RACES and ARES work. She set up the radio in the house with a 12V power supply and was operating, believe it or not, with a mag-mount mobile antenna on a cookie sheet, and after digging through the manual was immediately making contacts and hitting area repeaters.

the radio is obviously very well constructed. There is nothing cheap or shabby about this piece of equipment. It is extremely solid and well made. The body of the radio is dominated by a massive heat sink. The fit and finish is flawless. The controls are easy to grasp and operate, important in a mobile unit.

Sound qualiuty from the built in speaker is excellent and it can pump out enough volume to deal with a noisy mobile environment.

If you are seeking a rugged, dependable 2 meter transceiver for base or mobile applications, then look no further! This little gem has everything you will need for FM operation and it also has power to spare.

I've been running this radio for 8 months or so. With my home made copper pipe J-pole mounted only sixteen feet in the air I can hit repeaters as far away as New Orleans from my Mobile, AL home. This isn't entirely due to the power either as I never need the full 75 watts. In fact, I have pumped it up to full only once!

Receive is exceptionally clear as well. Honestly,guys, THIS needs to be your first choice in 2 Meter operations.

Garmin nüvi 2350LMT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic & Map Updates

Solid device but watch out for advertisement financed lifetime traffic updates
I bought the Garmin as a gift for my wife and was thrilled about the lifetime updates for traffic and maps.

Setup and navigation is good. We like the big screen and the way the information is provided.

The lifetime map updates sounds like a great feature. Maps can be updated four times a year and the access using the web page was easy. But I have to wonder what Garmin considers "useful life" of the device. But even if they are only available for three years, then it is still cheaper than buying the maps.

The conditions of lifetime traffic updates are definitely not what I expected and the reason that I am thinking of returning the device. The ads that finance the lifetime traffic pop up on the screen and disrupt the navigation. This is obnoxious! This should be mentioned in the product description! I couldn't even find information about the ad financed traffic on the Garmin web page!

I like everything about this unit better than my old GPS units EXCEPT......
This one has advertizements and cupon offers that pop up in the middle of the screen and it appears that the only way to get them off so that you can see the map fully is to manually change the screen. If it werent for the commercials, this unit would rate 5 stars.

Got my new Garmin GPS and to say the least I am very disappointed.

- Quick recalculations if you get off your route
- Nice display with good graphics

Con's
- You need a computer to register the unit (not in the product description) . If you don't register it the instruction say they will cut you off from MAP updates
- When you do register it you need a certain computer configuration or it won't work. Garmin also loads lots of stuff onto your computer in a very unusual manor (they put items in the startup tray but they are not in the startup folder)
- The download of maps is 6.6 Gigabytes - It took 7 hours
- Their web site says I need a software update, I did the update twice and it still says I need an update
- While using the unit commercials come up on the screen (not in the product description

Trijicon S&W M&P HD Night Sight Set Front Outline, Yellow

almost like a red dot sight!
I've had a set of these on my full sized M&P 40 for a couple of months now. I couldn't be happier with them. They are a lot better than the stock sights which I was having trouble focusing on in lower light conditions such as a indoor range. They've helped me a lot with accuracy too!
The front sight has a large orange (or yellow) dot that has a tritium insert in it. The paint of the orange or yellow dot can also be "charged" up using a flashlight so that it glows for a short time as well. Although its generally pretty easy to see on its own. The rear sight is blacked out except for the tritium inserts on each side. Its also sloped back and serrated so it doesn't reflect the light. The tritium glows a fairly bright green in the dark.
keep in mind that you'll need to either buy a sight pusher ($120 or so) or have a gunsmith install these sights (cost me $30). Smith & Wesson presses the factory sights on really tight with some huge press. The dovetail groove is also tapered in...
Worth the price
The front sight is very bright and fast to acquire.The sights sit a little higher than standard sights, so at close range POA will be a few inches higher than normal. They do this so the sights can be used to manipulate the slide one-handed. Very good for competition or self-defense, I prefer them over the XS big dots. I put them on my S&W M&P 9 I used for IDPA, and my Springfield XD 9 subcompact I use for concealed carry. They're a little more expensive than other night sights, but I wouldn't change out my sights for anything but these.

Bought these for my Shield 9mm and they fit perfect the sights made the grouping on shots shrink down significantly. Very bright in dark and very easy to line sights up during daytime. My new favorite sights, will install these on my glocks.

Ameristep Brickhouse Blind

Great for photography
I use a blind for wildlife photography and have owned an Ameristep Doghouse blind for a few months. I just bought this Brickhouse blind and am very pleased. While the Brickhouse and the Doghouse have about the same footprint there are some important differences that make the Brickhouse sell for about twice the price of the Doghouse. Rather than rehash the great reviews already provided on both models (thanks to all the reviewers who help me buy smart), I will address the differences between the two models from first hand experience.

1.) Material - the Brickhouse material seems to be a little heavier nylon and the interior blackout material has none of the tiny pinholes the Doghouse has. This doesn't matter to me as the exterior camo material on both is weather worthy. (I sprayed them both with waterproof silicon spray just for insurance). BTW, the occasional pinholes on the blackout interior on the cheaper Doghouse make no real difference in functionality to my mind. The...
Excellent Blind - Big, Easy to setup, lots of windows
Great blind. LOTS of windows. The windows are "double paned" with "tie downs" on the inner opaque windows, and velcro-ed outer, mesh see through windows. So you can open it up. Which is mission critical because it is VERY hard to see through the mesh especially at the all important dawn and dusk times. (or if you're facing the sun).

VERY Spacious, easily could fit two people, or one guy with a bunch of gear. Pretty simple to set up. Freestanding so you don't have to stake it (ice fishing?) but I did stake it so I could leave out on my land and let the woodlands creatures get used to it.

2 problems:
1. The door is not very easy to get in, especially dressed for Deer hunting in the UP of Michigan in November. It's not a deal breaker but it's a little tricky. (The door is a isosceles triangle with the long side vertical on the left and the two short sides meeting on the right at the center of the face.)

Be careful!!!!!
This is my first pop up blind. I have hunted out of this blind about 8 times as of today.

The reason I am writing is to tell owners to be careful about the joints used in the construction of this blind. I got to my blind this morning and the roof panel had popped-down (probably due to strong winds last night). I ducked inside the blind and grabbed the roof joint to push it back up into place. I pushed the roof joint up so that it would deploy (pop up). When the roof panel popped-up the joint caught my finger and pinched/cut it badly. BE CAREFUL OF THE JOINTS AS THEY'RE NASTY PINCH POINTS WHEN THEY POP INTO PLACE.

I hunt or fish just about every weekend so I am not some ninny typing here because I am easily injured or scared. This is the first time I have left a review for a product. Accu-Shot Atlas Bipod With Screw Clamp Style

If you want the best!
First let me say that yes, it is expensive! On average more than double the price of many of the other bi-pods being offered as a "professional grade" tool of the sport, but as someone who has been into shooting sports for 47 years I will say don't hesitate to acquire this bi-pod! This thing is rock solid and built like a C17. I haven't found a thing about it that is not well designed and made of quality elements.

One more thing I wanted to mention is that this pod is also very good looking on your rifle! Not the typical springy, bulky, ugliness of most retractable bi-pods but a very nice addition to the aesthetics of any tactical or hunting long gun!

You can read about it all over the web and find the reviews so I can't add anything here that would be new except my own opinion, and now you have that.
Rock solid
This bi-pod is rock solid. This ain't no harris. This thing feels solid form the second you pick it up. Picitiny rail mounts provide super stable mounting on any rifle. The legs lock into several positions and the feet extend smoothly and stay snug at any range. If you are looking at the price and feeling scared and want to reach for that $20.00 harris, DON'T!

You will not be disappointed. I put this on a match grade M1A in a JAEG3 stock that I am working on. It seem to be a winning combo. I would also recommend the mono-pods made by the same company. The craftsmanship is outstanding!
Quality & Design is not Cheap
I have a nice rifle so I am reluctant to mount junk on it. This is an expensive bipod and I weighed this purchase carefully over a period of several weeks before I pulled the trigger. Now that I have installed it and used the it; I have NO REGRETS.

It is strong, light, easy to deploy and easy to adjust. Yes, it looks great too and the quality is apparent as soon as you see it or handle it. I can recommend the Atlas bipod without hesitation.

Maxpedition Kodiak S-type Gearslinger (Black)

Perfect for the avid traveler.
My job takes me all over the world, and wherever I go, my Kodiak goes with me. Within the last 4 months, this bag has been to Texas, Ohio, Washington DC, England, Norway, and Russia. It's been thrown around on military cargo airplanes, dropped in puddles, and has CONSTANTLY been WAY over-packed for its size. So far it has come through with flying colors. I purchased the S-type model, because I'm a leftie, and this particular type of Gearslinger is designed with southpaws in mind. Burris 200437 MTAC 1-4 x 24 Illuminated Scope (Black)

Great Scope
I mounted this scope on my AR using the Burris QD mount. It was purchased with the intension of using it in 3 gun competitions. So far it has been sited in and put through some paces out to 400 yards. Product looks to be well built. Clean clear glass. I found the reticle to be a little large on the upper yardage but I knew this going in. It didn't matter much since at 300-400 I am hold over. Did not find the need to use the lighting. We will see how it does after some use. So far I am very satisfied!
Best glass for the money!
The MTAC is an amazing product for the money. The illuminated reticle is nice and bright. I could see it clearly on a bright sunny day. If you don't want to use the illumination, the reticle is still visible in plain black when off. I actually prefer the illumination off a lot of the time. The optics are super clear. 1x feels to be pretty darn close to true 1:1. I also like that there are off positions between each illumination setting. The eye relief is great!

My only gripe is that it didn't come with any kind of lens covers. I personally feel that any optics should come with some sort of lens protection. For those who are looking for Butler Creek flip open caps, here are the ones you need for this scope: 02A and 16

Bushnell AR Optics FFP Illuminated BTR-1 BDC Reticle AR-223 Riflescope with Target Turrets and Throw Down PCL, 1-4x 24mm

Amazing
I ordered this scope through a military store in May. After numerous calls to Bushnell, I finally received the product the first week of August. Three months was a long wait, but I have to say that I am more than impressed with this rifle scope. It's mounted on a Sig M400, and I have put easily a thousand rounds down range with no change in zero. The glass is amazingly clear (a Marine friend of mine called it HD) with no parallax. While the wait was long and trying, Bushnells customer service was always polite, and they bent over backwards to answer my questions. If you are looking for an outstanding scope with crystal clear glass, 11 different levels of reticle illumination, fast, easy magnification changes, true 1X with no parallax, then look no further. On a side note...I paid $239 for mine with free shipping. Anyone from Amazon listening???
Initial impressions are good
I recently purchased this scope from a certain big box store (you can probably guess which one), and since it seems unavailable ANYWHERE else (I had it on backorder for over a month with an online retailer), I have a feeling said store has a lock on the first X number of them made. I ran into the same thing a few years back with a Funai made Magnavox DVR (nobody got any until a certain retailer satisfied their initial order).

GOOD
1. Optical clarity - two gun stores that looked at the scope both remarked how clear and bright the glass was (they've looked through a LOT more scopes than I have).
2. First Focal Plane Reticle - I recently bought my first variable power scope (Nikon P22) only to discover that with a 2nd focal plane reticle, Bullet Drop Compensation marks are darn near useless, as they change values depending on the power selected - with a 1st focal plane reticle as on this scope, BDC values remain constant no matter your power setting.

Spyderco Military Model G-10 Black Blade Plain Edge Knife, Camo

The Real Thing
I own several Sypderco models and this is the largest of the bunch. Let me say right up front that most people do not generally require a knife this large and, in many jurisdictions, it might not even be legal to carry a 4" blade.

Normally, I tend to prefer the "lightweight" type Spydercos with FRN handles, but the Military is designed for heavy use, making G10 the better choice. You WILL know that this knife is in your pocket or clipped to wherever you may clip it.

Although I'm way past the age where the armed forces would have any need of my services, I can understand why this knife is so popular with our troops. While no folder can be as strong as a fixed-blade knife, this one comes close. Once it's locked, one would have to put a lot of effort into making it close unintentionally. I mean a LOT of effort.....the kind that would more accurately be called abuse.

Out of the box, the blade is as sharp as any I've ever owned. The steel is superb at...
Beautiful and Excellent Knife
I really love the orange handles on this great knife. Very light for it's size, with a great blade shape. And the blade comes razor sharp, and is thin S30V so is easy to keep razor sharp as well. American made also! I have the titanium version of this knife as well, but much prefer the G10 version like this one to the titanium. My only complaint would be that the orange handles show dirt and grime very easily. The knife will look "dirty" and "well used" after just a week's carry and normal use... you'll have to scrub the handle occasionally with a soapy toothbrush or something to keep it the beautiful orange color it arrives with. If you use your knife alot, especially with grimy hands you may want to order the black or camo G10 version instead.
Best Spyderco Ever
I've had Spydercos ever since the first generation Endura came out, with the integrated zytel clip. They have always been above average as far as the knife industry goes, but until I got this Military, I have never felt that they could hang with companies like Benchmade and Microtech. NOW, I'd rather give up all my Benchmades and MTs than my Military models (yes, I ended up getting a couple). The thing that always kept me from being in love with Spyderco was that you always used to have to choose whether you wanted a fair-priced knife or an awesome knife. You could get an Endura for $50 or $60 but would you trust your life to it? Civilians have always been about $160. Tough as nails, but too much money and too specific a purpose. Other models, like the ones in partnership with a famous designer like Jens Anso are either $200 or made in Taiwan. They just haven't been able to get it right for me until now. HCO SG580MB Blackout Invisible GSM Cellular Wireless Scouting Camera

New Favorite Camera
This camera takes a little time to set up and get to work, but once its set up, it works great. I use an AT&T go phone pay as you go plan with unlimited texts. This costs $20/month. And once hunting season is over, I don't have to continue paying for the cell phone service. It also works better than I thought with the marginal cell coverage in my area. I'm getting every picture the camera takes delivered straight to my cell phone within a minute.

My only complaint about this camera is that it doesn't have an IMEI #. If it had one, I could have activated easily online. Instead, I had to go to an AT&T store and get a universal SIM card put in an old go phone I had. I was then able to put that SIM in the camera. You can't use a go phone SIM card because they are tied to a specicific IMEI.
Almost great
I chose this product because I needed to transmit the pictures and it listed the data feature as a cost savings advantage...

found out the following:

after two trips to the AT&T store, I discovered that this device only works with 3G cards (they would not sell me a data only plan on 3G, only 4G) so I finally wound up with a month to month plan and an unlimited text package (about $40 total) (use a dummy IMEI of all 1's)

I did add a small data package, However even thought he camera will store 8MP photos on the SD card, when sent by MMS the resolution is only 640x480, when using email the resolution is upped to 800x600

for the majority, free email services do not work with this product, as most require a SSL or a TSL connection and this device is not able to generate one...

that being said, I was able to use an email from my ISP (centurylink) and was able to finally get emails sent.

Crosman Benjamin Discovery Pre-Charged Pneumatic PCP Dual Fuel .22 Air Rifle and Pump

Light, accurate, powerful and loud
I found this rifle a big step up from my spring-piston RWS. It has plenty of power for pest-control out to about 50 yards, and the accuracy required at that distance. Because it is so light and well-balanced, it is the easiest rifle to shoot offhand I have ever used. (Though the stock is short if you're tall. I use a recoil pad!) The pumping isn't too difficult.

The Benjamin Discovery pellets worked best for me; they are essentially hollow-point Crosman Premiers.

I knocked off one star because this rifle is quite loud. While this is typical of unshrouded PCP's, the loudness kept me from using the rifle as much as I would have liked to, or even practicing when I wanted (I live in town). The noise is why I no longer use this rifle, in favor of the similar (but mostly superior), extremely quiet, Benjamin Marauder.
Powerful and Well Built!
Man, the days of standing there pumping after every shot are over! I like to shoot and I was wanting a air rifle to so that I could shoot in my backyard. I still have my childhood Benjamin that is 20 years old so I felt that Benjamin had a quality product.

This air rifle is great! I went with the .22 caliber version and couldn't be happier with its performance and quality. I would say that you can get ~50 shots per charge before needing to pump it back up. Pumping isn't that difficult at all, about the same as a bicycle pump. There is very little recoil, not like the single cock spring guns.

Overall I'm very satisfied with this product and I haven't seen where anyone had any complaints for what all you get.
First impressions.
I been air gunning for well over 40yrs. I have a stable of springers,most tuned and modified to suit me. Own a couple of CO2 guns to round out my collection. Frankly, after I placed my order I was concerned I might have a bit of a problem pumping this bad boy up. Some reviews said it was a real workout! My ordering and shipping went flawlessly. Everything was well packed and gently handled by FedEx. When I opened the box and inspected my Disco it was flawless. Then came the moment of truth. Time to pump this bad boy up. I must admit I was a little bit concerned. No need to worry I pumped this unit up to 2000psi with NO problem. It was really easy. The trick is to make yourself pump slow and deliberate and take full strokes. I wish I counted but Benjamin literature indicated about 110 pumps should fill a empty gun. Even though my air gage showd 0 air pressure I think it had a small amount of air in. It. My pump never got hot,just warm to the touch.Now the fun part. Shot a few...

Excellent system!!
100% pleased with this setup on my rifle. Installing the system only takes a few seconds. Zeroing the sights is very easy. The reticle is very nice for quick target acquisition at short and medium range. I have and would highly recommend this product to any shooter.

The sidewinder is a must for the cyclone as it makes cocking it a breeze. Great tools for
crossbows.On the other hand,I`m not sure if this a universal type of cocking device??

My Husband bought me the Parker Cocking Device to use with my Parker Crossbow. I have severe arthritis in my hands and shoulders and it was getting impossible for me to pull up my bow strings with the rope. The hand cranker is easy to use and can fit in my backpack. Will never need anyone's help to engage my bow again....
